Current collation is partly based on catchwords that have often been almost completely trimmed (entirely visible, for example, in the lower margin on fols. 17v, 25v). Similar watermarks and quire structure found throughout the manuscript suggest that the folia following the main part also belonged to the original manuscript, although they were written on at a later date. Three flyleaves were added at the rebinding. Lacuna between fols. 16 and 17; defective from the beginning. Fol. 15 torn. Three unnumbered folia between fols. 136 and 137, and four after fol. 160. Apart from the missing leaves, the manuscript is in good condition. Up to 23 lines of text (no ruling).

The hand of the main part is a neat cursive dated to 1555 on fol. 131v. A few other hands wrote contemporary and later additions in the margins. The additional sections feature different hands of saec. XVI-XVII.

In the main part: red pen-drawn initials in several sizes, punctuation and majuscules emphasized in red. Rubrics in red. Fol. 16r, doodles of saec. XVII, ‘detta äro bara affmålningar som har äro målade’.

The main part of the manuscript (fols. 1–131) contains Magnus Eriksson’s <hi rend="italic" >Stadslag</hi> and is dated to 1555 (fol. 131v). The following parts were written in saec. XVII on leaves left blank in the original manuscript. These additions contain letters that suggest Köping as a possible provenance.

According to Schlyter (1865, xxix), the original covers carried the ownership marks of a Hans Erichsonn 1582, a Michill Hising, and a J.H. Amnorin. These have since been lost in the restoration. One Hising family originated from Köping, and included a Mikael Hising, who ended up in Finland (Hisinger, släkt, , Svenskt biografiskt lexikon, accessed 1.10.2014; Yrjö Kotivuori, Ylioppilasmatrikkeli 1640–1852: Mikael Hising. Verkkojulkaisu 2005 http://www.helsinki.fi/ylioppilasmatrikkeli/henkilo.php?id=7786. accessed 1.10.2014). A Johan Henrik Amnorin resided in Espoo in saec. XIX.

A number of ownership marks by Carl Knut Amnorin på Lagstad 1785, e.g. on fols. 36r, 137v. A few other names from saec. XVIII and IX are found on fols. [166v] and [167v].

Most of the letters on fols. 144–160 concern the city of Köping in Sweden. That, along with its connection to the Hising family, could suggest that the manuscript had its origin and/or early provenance in that city. The earliest marks of ownership to clearly indicate Finnish provenance are from saec. XVIII. It is uncertain how the book ended up in Finland, but it may have arrived with the Hising family.
