              <p>Two registers that have been bound together, both pertaining to the estates of
                  <placeName>Nynäs</placeName>, <placeName>Vik</placeName>, and
                  <placeName>Lahis</placeName> (or possibly only one or two of them). The first
                concerns the years <origDate from="1523" to="1530">1523−1530</origDate> and is more
                miscellaneous in nature. It covers folios 1−53 and 76, and consists of notes on
                expenses and incomes. Some examples of headings: </p>
              <p>Fol. <locus>4r</locus>: 'Wbyrd aff tawasteland saxamakij sokn'.</p>
              <p>Fol. <locus>6r</locus>: 'Anno dni Md23<hi rend="superscript">o</hi> ffra höste oc
                til nyars dagh'.</p>
              <p>Fol. <locus>10r</locus>: 'Anno dni mdxxvii thn tiidh ath Nyenas bleff branth'.</p>
              <p>Fol. <locus>37r</locus>: 'tredie aareth i rogh'.</p>
              <p>Fol. <locus>50r</locus>: 'anno dni mdxxx'.</p>
              <p>Fol. <locus>52r</locus>: 'Vtgipth I wadmal anno dni mdxvii'.</p>
              <p>The register is not ordered chronologically. The buildings of <placeName>Nynäs</placeName> estate are
                known to have burnt down in <date>1527</date> and some of the notes are datable by
                reference to this.</p>
              <p>The second register concerns the year <origDate>1551</origDate> and is a
                well-structured tenant register of the estates of <placeName>Nynäs</placeName>,
                  <placeName>Vik</placeName>, and <placeName>Lahis</placeName>.</p>

              <p>Fols. <locus>67r</locus>−<locus>75r</locus>: Lahis (fol. <locus>75v</locus> is
                blank; fol. <locus>76r</locus> contains short notes written by another hand and
                dated to <date>1577</date> and <date>1578</date>).</p>

                  register from 1551 (fols. 54–75) differs structurally from the preceding

              <p>Different hands for fols. 1−53 (+76) and 54−75. Possibly several hands in the first
                section also. Black and brown ink. On fol. <locus>15r</locus>, a note identifies the
                owner – and possibly also the scribe – of the booklet as <persName role="owner"
                  >Petrus Erici</persName>.</p>

              <p>A limp binding of light brown leather. The covers are formed of two separate pieces
                of leather laced together at the back cover with leather thongs. A contemporary hand
                has written the beginning of Psalm 46, 'Omnes gentes plaudite manibus' on the front
                cover. Apart from this, the cover features later archival markings 'Räkn. f. Nynäs i
                Finland', '1527–30'.</p>

          <history>
            <origin><p>A manuscript consisting of two parts, one from <origDate from="1523" to="1530">1523 to 1530</origDate>, and the
              other from <origDate>1551</origDate>. The stylistic differences are clear, and the older one is much less
                clearly organized. Both registers are written in a narrow folio format suggesting
                they are the original versions. </p><p>The registers are part of a large block of
                  records from the <date from="1500" to="1599">16th century</date> pertaining to the estates of <placeName>Nynäs</placeName>, <placeName>Vik</placeName>, and <placeName>Lahis</placeName>,
                  which were managed as a whole. A likely place of writing is <origPlace>Nynäs</origPlace> estate, but the
                records could equally well have been written elsewhere.</p></origin>
           <acquisition>
             <p>The financial records of <placeName>Nynäs</placeName> and related estates came to the Swedish Crown, and
                later the <orgName>Swedish National Archives</orgName>, when the possessions and
                archives of <persName role="owner">Hogenskild Bielke</persName> were confiscated
                following his execution in <date type="acquisition">1605</date> (see <hi
                  rend="italic">Introduction</hi> to these descriptions).</p>
