              <p>Correspondence and documents from the registry of the <persName role="owner">Magnus
                  Nicolai Särkilahti</persName> (1489–1500), bishop of <placeName>Turku</placeName>.
                The letters primarily describe the political situation in <country>Sweden</country>
                in the <date from="1490" to="1499">1490s</date>. The register also contains copies
                of certain court decisions given by Bishop <persName>Magnus Nicolai</persName> and
                statutes promulgated by him. The last entry was made after the death of Bishop
                Magnus, around 1500. Most of the documents have been edited in <bibl><hi
                    rend="italic">Finlands medeltidsurkunder</hi></bibl> (FMU). </p>

            <origin><p>The cartulary was mainly copied during the term of office of Bishop Magnus Nicolai, between 1489 and 1500. The fair-copied letters and documents reflect upon current political events and decisions. The last entry was made after the death of Bishop Magnus, around 1500.</p></origin>

              <p>The cartulary was added to the collections of the <orgName>Swedish National Archives</orgName> during the <date type="acquisition" from="1640" to="1649">1640s</date> by the archivist, Jonas Håkansson Rhezelius (see fol. <locus>1r</locus>).</p>
