Correspondence and documents from the registry of the Magnus Nicolai Särkilahti (1489–1500), bishop of Turku. The letters primarily describe the political situation in Sweden in the 1490s. The register also contains copies of certain court decisions given by Bishop Magnus Nicolai and statutes promulgated by him. The last entry was made after the death of Bishop Magnus, around 1500. Most of the documents have been edited in Finlands medeltidsurkunder (FMU).

Fols. 9r–26v: Miscalleneous documents, e.g. statutes of the diocesan synod of 1492, ordinances of Bishop Magnus Nicolai, formulas for the composing of last wills and testaments, and a letter concerning the beatification of Bishop Hemming of Turku.

Fols. 72r–83v: A statement delivered to churches on the making of testaments, letters from Bishop Magnus Nicolai to the regent, Sten Sture the Elder (1470–1497), sent from Wiborg and Turku during the spring of 1493, and other documents.

Fols. 84r–90v: Correspondence between the Privy Councils of Sweden and Denmark regarding, for example, the crowning of King John of Denmark.

Five different watermark motifs; Triple mount above double line cross (PO 151759), Hand with cuff (PO 154484) and unidentified Drinking vessel, Bull´s head and a Crown with arch consisting of two lines with pearls.

The outermost leaves of the manuscript have been repaired as most of the original paper in that position has been destroyed. Some of the letters lack some text due to missing leaves.

 One column, no ruling; number of lines varies.

Littera Gothica Cursiva; written mainly by two scribes. A few later additions made by two further scribes. One of the scribes (Hand A) of the cartulary has been identified as Paulus Scheel (1465–1516), who worked as secretary to the bishop.

No decoration.

Modern binding of cardboard with a 15th-century parchment fragment covering the spine and small parts of the front and back covers. The fragment has presumably come over from the original binding.

The cartulary was mainly copied during the term of office of Bishop Magnus Nicolai, between 1489 and 1500. The fair-copied letters and documents reflect upon current political events and decisions. The last entry was made after the death of Bishop Magnus, around 1500.

The cartulary was added to the collections of the Swedish National Archives during the 1640s by the archivist, Jonas Håkansson Rhezelius (see fol. 1r).
