                <bibl>Hurmevirta 1956, 6</bibl>) the priest of the same name who was the curate of
                  <placeName>Eurajoki</placeName> from <date>1580</date> until his death in
                  <date>1587</date> (<bibl>Leinberg 1903, 57</bibl>), since the colophon is dated
                  <origDate>[15]91</origDate>. He might have been a teacher (<hi rend="italic"
                  >lector</hi>) or a judge (<hi rend="italic">laghmann</hi>), given the contraction
                in his colophon.</p>

              <p>Monochromatic but skilfully flourished Gothic majuscules for the beginnings of
                books and chapters, which are also marked by the use of Semitextualis for book
                titles and the incipits of chapters.</p>

              <p>A half-leather binding with raised bands of <date type="binding" from="1800"
                  to="1899">saec. XIX</date>. On the spine the title ‘LAGBOK’ in gold on a burgundy

                <placeName>Rauma</placeName>, perhaps a judge or a teacher.</origin>
            <provenance>
              <p>On <locus>fol. 1r</locus>, in the upper margin, what might have been an ownership
                mark has been struck through; it is dated <date>1620</date> but is otherwise
                illegible.</p><p>On <locus>fol. 179v</locus>, ‘Carl Hindricβon van boorn’ in a hand
                of <date from="1700" to="1799">saec. XVIII</date>. Apparently the same hand has
                written (or more properly doodled) his name on fols. <locus>44v</locus>,
                  <locus>45r</locus>, <locus>46r</locus>, <locus>48v</locus>–<locus>49r</locus>
                (other doodles by the same hand on fols. <locus>71r</locus> and
                  <locus>92v</locus>–<locus>93r</locus>). He is possibly the officer <persName
                  role="owner">Carl Bernhard von Born></persName> (<date from="1734" to="1790"
                  >1734–1790</date>), son of <persName>Herman Henrik von Born</persName> and married
                to <persName>Johanna Catharina Krogius</persName>, daughter of the curate of
                  <placeName>Rantasalmi</placeName>, who died in <placeName>Suomenlinna</placeName>
                  (<bibl>Elgenstierna ed. 1925, 542</bibl>).</p>

              <p>Acquired by the <orgName>National Library of Finland</orgName> (then University Library) in the <date type="acquisition" from="1800"
                to="1899">nineteenth century</date>. Inside the front cover, in pencil
                ‘skr[iven] 1591’, and, in a slightly older hand, in ink, ‘Tillhör
                Universitesbibliotheket Helsingfors’. Also the blue stamp of the University Library
                and the numerals ’263’ struck through. Inside the back cover the previous shelfmark
                in ink (B.III.21.a), struck through, and the current shelfmark in pencil: F<hi
