              <p>Wood with dark brown covers. Blind-tooled with various ornamental figures,

            <origin><p>The manuscript contains the legislation of King <persName role="author"
                  >Magnus Eriksson</persName> together with the commonly included <hi rend="italic"
                  >Kyrkobalk</hi> from <title><hi rend="italic">Uppslandslagen</hi></title>. The
                main part of the manuscript is written with care, by an experienced scribe during
                the <origDate from="1450" to="1499">second half of saec. XV</origDate>. According to
                  <bibl>Beckman (1919, 7)</bibl> it most resembles a textual tradition from
                  <placeName>Uppland</placeName>. At the beginning and end of the book, paper
                quires, filled with various texts related to the legislation or to juridical matters
                in general, were added at a later date. A number of additions have been made to the
                    <title><hi rend="italic">Landslag</hi></title>, some considerably younger than
                the main part of the manuscript. These additions show that the manuscript was in use
                for at least a few centuries.</p></origin>

              <p>Fol. <locus>160v</locus>: ‘dominus magnus’ in a hand of <date from="1400" to="1499">saec. XV</date>. The notes on the rights of the
                Finnish priests suggest the manuscript was in Finland by the beginning of saec.
                XVI.</p><p>The manuscript was probably in the possession of <persName role="owner">Claus Bielke</persName> by the <date type="acquisition" from="1585" to="1594">end
                  of the XVI century</date>, since a table concerning his genealogy is drawn on <locus>fol. 77v</locus> (the
                table lists Claus Bielke as a <hi rend="italic">riksråd</hi> (from 1585) but not as
                a <hi rend="italic">friherre </hi>(from 1594)). Claus Bielke conducted negotiations
                  in <placeName>Reval</placeName> and elsewhere in <country>Finland</country>. He was married to <persName>Lars Ivarsson Fleming</persName>’s
                  daughter, <persName>Elin Fleming</persName>. He could have acquired the manuscript either during his
                  missions or through his family.</p><p>In the lower margin of fol. <locus>1r</locus>, information on the
                    19th-century editions by Schlyter. Shelf-mark of the <orgName>National Library of Sweden</orgName> on a
                paper label on the front cover.</p>
            </provenance>
            <acquisition>
              <p><locus>Fol. 1r</locus>: a note on the purchase of the
                manuscript in <date type="acquisition">1703</date> for 25 daler. Next to this note, the name of <persName role="owner">J[ohan] G[abriel] Sparwenfeld</persName> (d. 1727) is
                found. The manuscript probably came to the <orgName>National Library of Sweden</orgName> as one of
                Sparwenfeld’s donations.</p>
