                <condition><p>A separate bifolium has been cropped before the current first quire.
                    Fol. 8 is a singleton. Fols. 40–46 seem to have been added on later. They are
                    formed of three bifolia and an added leaf (fol. 45), which were added to the
                    quire ranging from fol. 38 to fol. 48. They are written by a younger hand, the
                    parchment is noticeably less stained than elsewhere in the manuscript, and they
                    contain a paper bifolium (fols. 41 and 44). Fol. 45 is a singleton originally
                    pasted to fol. 44, now almost completely loose. Fol. 60 is also a later
                    replacement pasted to a stub. One (apparently empty) leaf has been cropped after
                    fol. 73. Fols. 117–120 are a later addition of <date type="addition" from="1500"
                      to="1599">saec. XVI</date>.</p><p>The manuscript is in good overall condition.
                    There is some staining and a few small holes in the parchment, but no serious
                    damage.</p></condition>

              <p>On fols. 117–118 there are additions to documents written in a cursive of <date
                  type="addition" from="1500" to="1599">saec. XVI</date>. A few other hands of <date
                  type="addition" from="1400" to="1599">saec. XV and XVI</date> have made notes in
                the margins against the main text.</p>

            <decoDesc>
              <p>Blue and red lombards, usually with penwork flourishing in both colours, or in red,
                or in two shades of red at the beginning of chapters (3–4 lines high). Simple
                lombards at the beginning of articles (2 lines high).</p>
              <p>Fol. <locus>11v</locus>: letters ‘I S’ drawn in black ink inside an initial. </p>
              <p>Space has regularly been left for rubrics before the articles. However, the rubrics
                have been added in only a few instances. Chapter headings in the upper margin in
                red. Article number in the outer margin in black. Highlighting of the letters and
                occasional paraph marks in red.</p>

            <bindingDesc>
              <p>Rebacked half-binding of light brown calf with dark brown stained paper over wooden
                boards, typical of Cronstedt's collection. Remnants of two hook-clasps are visible
                at the fore-edge of both covers. Labels pasted to the spine show the shelf-mark and
                contents of the book. Number ‘49’ stamped on a piece of red leather on the spine.
                Pastedowns are marbled paper. The covers are badly worn.</p>

          <history>
            <origin><p>The manuscript contains a copy of <origDate from="1350" to="1399">saec.
                    XIV<hi rend="superscript">2</hi></origDate> of <persName role="author">Magnus
                  Eriksson</persName>’s <title><hi rend="italic">Landslag</hi></title>. It was
                written by a skilled scribe apparently drawing on several different exemplars. Some
                finishing touches are lacking (for example, the rubrics are not supplied). There are
                also nearly no additions or other marks of use.</p></origin>
            <provenance>
              <p>A later hand has added, at the back of the manuscript, copies of two judgements
                given in <country>Finland</country>, both appearing in sources connected to Finland.
                It is sufficient to indicate that the manuscript may have been in <placeName
                  type="provenance">Finland</placeName> in <date type="provenance" from="1500"
                  to="1599">saec. XVI</date>.</p>
            </provenance>
            <acquisition>
              <p>By <date type="acquisition" from="1700" to="1799">saec. XVIII</date> the manuscript
                had come into the hands of <persName role="owner">Abraham Erik
                Gyllengrip</persName>. Fol. <locus>1r</locus>: ‘Possessor Abrahamus Ericus
                Gyllengrijp’, indicating <persName role="owner">Abraham Erik Gyllengrip</persName>
                (d. 1786).</p><p>Later the manuscript belonged to <orgName>Cronstedska samling</orgName>, which was
                donated to <orgName>Uppsala University Library</orgName> in <date type="acquisition"
                  >1767</date> (see inside front cover). Modern shelf-mark ‘B 23’ on the inner front
                cover and spine. A previous shelf-mark(?) ‘49’ also on the spine. Uppsala University
                Library’s stamp on fol. <locus>1r</locus>.</p>
