II: fols. 13–16: Leaves from a printed commentary of the <hi rend="italic" >Apocalypse</hi>.

The manuscript contains two fragments deriving from different books: one a Finnish manuscript and the second a printed volume. They were combined after having been removed from the covers of another print in 1921.

The leaves have suffered from damage and contain a number of holes. They have been conserved using a pink (Japanese?) paper.

The manuscript features a watermark of a one-handled pot with a crown and flower on top of it. Several watermarks of this type are known from the 1540s (cf. Piccard-Online, no. 31582, 31574 etc.).

One main hand writing a cursive of saec. XVI. The text has been dated on a linguistic basis to c. 1541–1544 (Itkonen – Kaila 2002). A different hand writes an addition on fol. 7v.

Simple pen-drawn majuscules at the beginnings of chapters. Apart from this, no decoration.

Modern half-skin binding with two flyleaves at the front and one at the back.

T 387 contains two different parts. The first is a manuscript containing a Finnish translation of the gospel of John cc. 18 and 19, which relate to services on Good Friday, a collection of pericopes for the following days, and a few prayers. Since the translations seem to have been influenced both by the New Testament of 1539 and the Swedish Bible of 1541, and since it was bound with a book from 1545, the manuscript has been dated 1541–1544.

The leaves were removed in 1921 from the covers of a book that once belonged to Hogenskild Bielke (1538–1605) and contained Walter Hermann Ryff’s <hi rend="italic">Anatomica omnium humani corporis partium descriptio</hi>, printed at Paris by Chrétien Wechsel in 1545, and Hortus sanitatis, printed at Strassburg by Mathias Apiarius in 1536 (see Undorf 1995, 188–189). Walde (1921, 207) suggest the binding of the volume was done in the diocese of Turku around 1550.

The book probably had come to Sweden by the end of saec. XVI, passing subsequently to Uppsala University Library, along with several other of Hogenskild’s books.
